Urology Physician – Full-Time

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Facility: Columbia VA Health Care System
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
Call: Approximately 7 call days per month, including one weekend
Compensation: $298/hour + $30/hour for call + $298/hour for callback
Estimated Annual Earnings: $600,000–$626,000

Position Overview

The Columbia VA Health Care System is seeking a qualified Urologist to provide comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, surgical, procedural, and on-call urology services to Veterans. The physician will evaluate and treat new and established patients, perform urologic procedures and surgeries, provide inpatient consultations, and participate in scheduled call coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage approximately 18–20 patients per clinic day.
• Diagnose and treat conditions including kidney stones, BPH, elevated PSA, hematuria, urinary retention, recurrent UTIs, erectile dysfunction, and urologic cancers.
• Review imaging, laboratory, and pathology results and develop appropriate treatment plans.
• Perform office-based urologic procedures, including cystoscopy, catheter management, and prostate evaluations.
• Perform urologic procedures and surgeries, averaging approximately 3–5 procedures per surgical session.
• Provide inpatient urology consultations and round on hospitalized patients.
• Respond to urgent urologic issues and provide scheduled on-call coverage.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the VA EMR system.
• Coordinate surgical cases and provide follow-up care.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state.
• Current DEA registration.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Ability to obtain VA privileges and complete credentialing.
• Strong clinical and surgical urology experience.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Compensation Details

The regular physician rate is $298/hour. Scheduled call is compensated at $30/hour, while call-back requiring the physician to return to the facility for patient care is compensated at $298/hour. Estimated annual earnings, including call compensation, are approximately $600,000–$626,000, depending on actual call-back volume.
