The Columbia VA opened in 1932 at its current location and now includes seven community-based outpatient clinics located throughout South Carolina in the Upstate, Midlands and Pee Dee areas; serving 36 of 45 counties on South Carolina. The seven CBOCs are in Anderson, Florence, Greenville, Orangeburg, Rock Hill, Spartanburg, and Sumter. All clinics except for Rock Hill are VA staffed. Urologist - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- The Urologist conducts thorough evaluations and assessments of patients with urological symptoms and conditions.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and imaging to diagnose urological disorders.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with urological conditions, including medical management and surgical interventions.
- Perform surgical procedures, including but not limited to prostatectomy, nephrectomy, and bladder reconstruction.
- Perform endoscopic procedures, such as cystoscopy and ureteroscopy, to diagnose and treat urinary tract conditions.
- The Urologist interprets procedure findings and provides timely reports to patients and referring physicians.
- Educate patients and their families about urological conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
- Offer guidance on preventive measures and health maintenance.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including oncologists, radiologists, and nephrologists, to optimize patient care.
- Consult on complex cases and provide expert opinions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) of patient care.
- The Urologist prepares and submits reports and documentation as required.
Urologist - REQUIREMENTS
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Must have board certification through the American Board of Urology.
- Must have a full, current, and unrestricted license in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
- Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalency.
