Locum Tenens Hospitalist: Internal Medicine Job in New York

Our client in Western New York is currently seeking locums Hospitalist.
Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
 
- ACLS certified
 
- NY license required
 
- Must be willing to become NIH-Stroke certified for credentialing (2 hours of supplemental CME training).  A total of 8 Stroke CMEs (which much include the NIH Stroke Scale) must be submitted with application
 
- MUST be comfortable managing an airway during urgent or emergent clinical situations.  (Average number of intubations per physician provider/month is about 2-4).
 
- MUST be comfortable and willing to supervise NPs and PAs.
 
- Not accepting candidates who can only do swing swifts and facility is not offering proctoring.
 
- Providers have to be able to do procedures
 
- Need at least 6-8 shifts per month and more than just weekends.
 
Practice Details:
- Schedule: 5 on 5 off
 
- Shifts: 7a-7p; 7p-7a; 3p-11p
 
- Minimum Shifts Per Month: Block of 5
 
- 5 NP/PA on during the day 7a-5p (the non-physicians providers are autonomous and do their own billing, no physician co-signs required)
 
- Average Daily Shift Census: 110-120 total
 
- Average Number of Admissions (Day and Nights): 22 total per day
 
- Number of Hospitalists on Day Shifts: 2
 
- Number of Hospitalists on Night Shifts: 2
 
- Number of Encounters: 15-17
 
- Not required to take call
 
- Round and manage ICU patients. Hospitalists are responsible for the first 24 hours of vents. There is not an intensivist in the unit.
 
- Not required to back-up the Emergency Department
 
- With ICU involvement
 
- Will be the 1st responder for codes
 
- Providers have to be able to do procedures
- Required Procedures: Endotracheal Intubation, Ventilation Management
 
- Preferred Procedures: Central Lines
