Psychiatrist needed in Lake Charles Louisiana!! Private practice 

Specialty needed and setting: Inpatient with ½ day of outpatient coverage a week (90% inpatient)

If you can picture your ideal candidate, what would they have in their background and personality? Someone with inpatient experience that works well with staff and patients. Someone that’s more interested in quality of care rather than moving through a list. Communicating well with patients and other hospital workers is a must. Geriatric experience is needed. They don’t have to be a specialist in these fields but someone comfortable working with mental health patients with illnesses such as dementia, bi polar, depression, substance abuse and schizophrenia.

 Hours/call: Usually 8-5 5 days a week. On call 1x a week and 1 weekend a month 

Main types of procedures or patients seen: Geriatric ages 55 and up. Average in patient is probably 70. 92% Medicare, 2% commercial. IOP average age 60. 

Average # of patients seen per day: inpatient 15 bed unit, average census 13. Outpatient, 10 bed unit with daily census just under 7. About 1 consult a day but could be 0-4. 

Team size: Currently 2 psychiatrists (1 relocating). Have RNs, LVS, Mental Health Techs, Social Workers, LVCs, Recreational Therapist, and lots of support from clinical and admin director. 

Salary range and bonus potential range (20-60k yr): $275k salary with sign-on and benefits. Directorship stipend for IOP & SOP (not sure amount yet). RVU based after 1st year. Expect physician to build practice immediately. There is a 3-4 month wait time for new patients.
