Facility Physical Environment: The112-bed hospital provides quality care to mentally ill adults & individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities from its 34-county catchment area in Southeast Georgia. The facility is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
Essential Duties: Will serve as a full-time Psychiatrist on an adult mental health unit. The Psychiatrist will enjoy collegial relationships with a large psychiatric/medical staff, and will benefit from, and provide cross coverage among this group.
Other Responsibilities:
In conjunction with a comprehensive treatment team, the Psychiatrist addresses the clinical needs of Adult consumers, utilizing comprehensive care plans including behavioral support and pharmacotherapy. Under broad supervision, provides comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions and providing treatments.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a medical school recognized by the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Licensure to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law is required.

In addition to those who meet the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to those with the following:
- Completion of an ACGME approved General Psychiatry Residency
- Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Experience in treating persons with serious and persistent mental illnesses, and in providing care as leader and member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Experience working with consumers in a public psychiatric hospital
