JOB TITLE: Psychiatrist - Rural AZ LOCATION: Rural Arizona INDUSTRY: Healthcare DEPARTMENT: Clinic REPORTS TO: Medical Director TYPE OF POSITION: Full-Time SPECIAL COMMITMENTS: U.S. Military Veterans and Native Americans RESPONSIBILITIES: The psychiatrist examines, evaluates, diagnoses, and treats psychiatric disorders and/or patients with a chemical dependency. Prepares and reviews case histories and obtains and evaluates data through interview techniques. Diagnoses psychiatric disorders and prescribes and evaluates effectiveness of a wide range of therapeutic measures. The psychiatrist recommends disposition of psychiatric cases and advises on problems related to mental health and prevention of mental disorders. Serves as psychiatric consultant to clinic and as part of the clinical team, functions in contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients. • Analyze and evaluate patient data and test or examine findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder and/or chemical dependency. • Prescribe, direct, and administer psycho-therapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, behavioral disorders and chemical dependency including out-patient detoxification. • Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, MFTs, counselors, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress. • Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals. • Counsel outpatients and other patients during office visits. • Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments. • Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patients to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder. • Advise and inform treatment center professionals, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment. • Review and evaluate treatment procedures and outcomes of other psychiatrists and medical professionals. • Prepare and submit case reports and summaries to treatment center and mental health agencies as necessary and in accordance with HIPPA regulations. • Serve on committees to promote and maintain community mental health services and delivery systems. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS • Have relevant basic medical qualifications and post-graduation in Psychiatry and be registered and licensed to practice as a Psychiatrist in the State of Arizona. • A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience as a Psychiatrist. Possess excellent counseling skills and be interested in contributing through essentially a proactive and preventative role. • Has experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team in an adult mental health/treatment center setting and in a group practice environment with strong team orientation and is able to relate to and provide care to community/ population from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. • Is familiar with the current standards of psychiatric care and treatment methods, interventions and medication and able to assess the mental status and knowledgeable about the administration, scoring and interpretation of psychometric tests. • Has a successful experience of working with patients with severe psycho-social stress and knowledgeable about crisis intervention techniques in working with patients with behavioral health and chemical dependency issues. • Should possess very good communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with patients and other professionals. • The Psychiatrist will show skills and competency in working with patients from undertaking assessments (including risk), planning and delivery of care and review of effective methods of interventions in order to shape continuing service provision that will meet the needs of individuals. • Has the ability to listen actively when spoken to and effectively communicate their thoughts to others. Is sensitive to religious, ethnic and cultural differences in others and show respect and empathy.
