The Bedford-Somerset DBHS is in need of a psychiatrist, either part time or full time. In order to carry out the Essential Functions, the following physical and mental requirements are required: This position requires excellent documentation and communication skills, both verbally and written. Requires the ability to assess the client’s needs and to develop an appropriate response. Requires excellent organizational skills. Must have a working knowledge of both DBHS policies and procedures as well as the program rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and the ability to interpret and clarify those to staff and clients. Requires flexibility, creativity, strong leadership skills, good judgment, and enthusiasm. Ability to work as a team member, presents information in a clear and concise manner, and work independently. Must possess effective listening and observation skills and team management skills. Requires effective inter-personal skills. Demonstrate a positive role model for staff. Ability to work in a stressful environment at times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position serves as the Psychiatrist for the Bedford Clinical Services Unit (CSU) / Outpatient Program. Supervision is received by the Bedford County MH Program Director. Conduct outpatient psychiatric evaluations and provide outpatient clinical staff with a comprehensive report including a psychiatric diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Provide psychiatric follow-up appointments for medication management, prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, and consult with DBHS consumers and family physicians. Participate in discharge planning for outpatient consumers and make recommendations for continued follow-up treatment in other programs. Monitor and sign all outpatient individual treatment plans and provide input regarding specific goals for outpatient consumers.
