Currently there are four full time physicians and one nurse practitioner in our comprehensive cancer center and blood institute. In recognizing growth, retirement, and needed service line development, we are now looking at adding a fifth physician to the team. The physicians also do a community outreach once a week in Moscow, ID and Pullman, WA-the clinics are approximately 35 miles north of our campus. Our patient population includes a broad range of solid tumor and hematologic malignancies; benign hematologic conditions are also a significant component of the practice. We do not do stem cell research on the locally. We have a chemotherapy infusion center onsite, along with Radiation/Oncology. We have a small clinical trials program which is currently expanding and affiliating with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Hem/Onc's admit their own patients and co-manage patients with the hospitalist group. The hospitalists manage the ICU care and with some non-cancer admissions. We also facilitate a multidisciplinary Tumor Board, as well as a Cancer Committee each month. On-Call responsibility would be one weeknight per week and every fifth weekend. Physicians are seeing 15-17 patients per day and rounding on their own in-patients.
