Iowa Position - Family Medicine & ED Call - locum Tenens: Job Description: This need is for Physicians PLUS PAs or ARNPs to be able to call upon for vacations, etc. The need is to provide Family Practice coverage at a few different clinics on an as needed basis (to include every 3rd week, 5 weekends a year, and vacation coverage): They will also need the locum to cover ER call at: (Per facility: at times we need a physician for solo on call ER coverage. Most times a midlevel with experience fits our needs) For the ED coverage: Emergency Room On Call Physican/Midlevel Locum healthcare provider on call is responsible for patients presenting to the Emergency Room as well as inpatients and outpatient observation patients in house during their shift. Provider is responsible to admit patients requiring acute care or outpatient observation and care for them throughout their shift. Avera E-Emergency provided in ER. BLS, ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certification required. ED Phone Call Only- Provider does not have to be present in the hospital at all times, but must be able to respond within 30 minutes or less. Provider answers inquiries from nursing homes and residential care facility. Locum physician working in off-campus clinic during business hours may be back up to the midlevel on call working. Back up means available by phone and could be expected to come immediately to the ER for a major trauma, multi-victim MVA, etc. but this is rare. Emergency room call volume 1.69 per day annual average.
