Regional Hospital is seeking a BE/BC Pulmonary Medicine Physician or Anesthesiologist to join their growing inpatient ICU team.The new physician will join current ICU Medical Director and 2 Advanced Practice Professionals in managing patients in our newly expanded ICU and provide emergency department consults as needed.

Regional Hospital is affiliated with the University of North Carolina Health System and is the major healthcare system in region which includes a network of 120 physicians. Hospital consists of 351 beds a closed 32 bed ICU with Electronic ICU at night has a 24 hour Cath Lab Cancer Center.

Service Specifics:

• 20 bed inpatient intensive care unit
• Newly camera beds and contracted monitoring by Mercy
• Average census 10 beds/ICU MD and APP
• Consultative Services to CCU
• Dedicated ICU nursing
• Emergency Department
• 60000 visits/year – with after-hours ICU admissions by employed hospitalist service
• Sub-specialty support
• In-house general surgical as well as ENT urology and orthopedic support
• Anesthesia back-up for codes and airway management
• ICU specialty support remotely through UNC-Chapel Hill Mercy contract
• Patients requiring acute sub-specialist support or critically/seriously ill are transported out
• Epic EMR implementation May 2016 also interfacing with eCare Advisor software.

Responsibilities/Requirements

• 5 day Monday - Friday schedule
• 24 hour back up coverage
• Not required to stay in-house – take call from home!
• Cover 1 weekend in 4 (5PM Friday-8AM Monday)
• Admission of ICU patients from ED and those admitted after hours by hospitalist service
• ED consults as needed in conjunction with Hospitalist Service
• Advise ED stabilization and arrange transport of critically/seriously ill patient requiring higher levels of care.
• Attend codes in ICU.NOT required to attend codes on floors or in the ED.
