Practice Details

Porter, Maine: We invite an experienced Primary Care Physician – FP or IM or Med/Peds – to lead the clinical team as MEDICAL DIRECTOR in an established community-focused rural health center (FQHC) serving 22,000 people in and around this historic town. This is a hands-on role where you will have administrative/ leadership and coaching responsibilities (25%) while also serving as a primary care physician and managing your own panel of patients (75%). 

Primary care here is outpatient-only with no OB. Collaborate with fellow physicians and a dedicated clinical and administrative team seeking to provide optimal health care for patients – many of whom are uninsured or underinsured. We seek the right person to be Team Leader for all clinical services in an Integrated Primary Care/ Patient Centered Medical Home model. This is an equal opportunity employer. Come to desirable southwestern Maine, on the New Hampshire border one hour west of Portland, where this multidisciplinary practice provides primary care, dental care, mental health services, nutrition, eye care, podiatry, family planning and more, all in one location – with radiology and lab services onsite. Providers here are well-respected and make a tangible difference to local people by breaking down barriers and providing quality care to a population with evolving healthcare needs. 

You will have a convenient 4 day/week schedule (10-hour days) with no weekends and no holidays. Practice in a modern facility with an experienced staff and state-of-the-art technology with electronic medical records - so you can focus on delivering the best possible patient care. Light phone-only call goes through an RN triage service first, and is shared, so when your turn comes up (about once/week) you will only field a handful of calls.
