•This assignment consists of providing coverage for two (2) 10-bed geriatric psychiatric units
•The average daily census in both units is between 6-8 patients. (12-14 ppd total avg.).
•One unit has a PA who can assist with rounding, etc.
•The average length of stay is 12-14 days.
•Each unit has a program manager. This will be your primary contact.
•Participating in the on-call rotation is optional.
•It is expected that our Locum physicians will perform consults on patients admitted to the medical floor if asked.
•Typically our physicians start their day at the one location, arriving between 7:00am and 8:00am, get reports from staff and/or have treatment team meeting, then round on patients. Rounding consists of performing initial psychiatric evaluations on any patients admitted the previous day, as well as performing follow-up visits with patients already admitted to the unit. Leave location #1 around 11:00am-12:00pm, lunch and travel to location #2. Arrive at location #2 approx. 12:00-1pm, perform psychiatric initial evaluations on newly admitted patients, round on patients. Routine is similar to location #1 with the exception that there’s a PA on staff to assist. The PA can round on patients under supervision of the psychiatrist on both the inpatient and outpatient units.
