Permanent Psychiatry: Child & Adolescent Job in Plattsburgh, New York

CHILD PSYCH Candidate criteria - physicians must be fellowship trained and be either board certified or board eligible. New York State Limited permits will not be accepted. Inpatient experience required within the last 5 years. Up to date knowledge on medications. Reference names and phone numbers required prior to acceptance. These must include physicians that have supervised them in the recent past and nurse managers that have worked with them in the recent past. Child/Adolescent Unit - 12 beds Hours M-F - 8:00-4:30pm Ages - 6-18 (18 if enrolled in school) 7-10days Average length of stay Locked/Unlocked Unit Call - 1:4 weekends (rounds on both units) Call on weekdays: 1 or 2 or 3 nights Calls are limited after 11 PM generally only for patient emergency and/or restraint. 100 % inpatient work Charting - electronic vs. paper H&P done electronically H&P''s performed on all admissions within 24 hours. How patients are typically admitted (voluntary vs. involuntary) Younger - voluntary, older - involuntary. crisis team in place. Common Dx: PTSD, Bipolar, Intermittent explosive behavior Daily Duties include: Covering up to 12 inpatients plus consults on the floors and ER (adults and/or children). Consults range between 0-5 on any given day. The coverage of daily inpatients, on occasion, could include adults. Face to face assessment/documentation required daily. Other duties: Will need to physically come in for seclusions/restraints (arrive within 30 minutes) Support Staff: RN''s, , social worker, case coordinator, community agencies. Weekend coverage includes both adult and child adolescent units. If census is above 18 there will be assistance of another psychiatrist, if available, who will assist with follow-ups of 10 patients on the adult unit only (this physician is not responsible for admissions/ discharges/ consults. Consults vary between 0-5 daily. If the patient remains in the ECC longer than 23 hours an in-person evaluation is necessary.
