Locum Tenens Radiation Oncology Job in Texas
Radiation Oncologist
Our client is currently in need of locums Radiation Oncologist to join their facility in West-Central Texas.
Requirements:
- M.D. degree
- Must be Board Certified
- DEA is required
Practice Details:
- Practice Setting: Outpatient
- Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours Only
- Hours/Shifts: 5 days, day shift (Monday - Friday typically 8:00am - 5:00pm). The first Radiation patient is treated at 8:30am.
- On average, the facility treats 15-20 patients per day using a Varian 21EX-S Linear Accelerator. Each patient is scheduled 15 minutes apart for their Radiation Treatment. The facility provides both traditional external beam ionizing radiation and IMRT. The facility does not offer brachytherapy nor HDR.
- The facility’s most common therapies include, but are not limited to, lung, breast and prostate. The majority of the patients are over 60 years of age. Patients under 40 are rare.
- Services related or concomitant to radiation therapy include: periodic nursing and physician assessments; blood and urine analysis; education on treatment, side effects and their prevention and nutrition; caring for side effects; control of dehydration through infusion; record management.
- The department uses paper charting. The physicians use either a hand-written progress note or dictation depending on the situation.
- The Radiation side of the department employees two Radiation Therapists, a block cutter/assistant, a Dosimetrist, a RN, a Phlebotomist, a Social Worker, and a front office Coordinator. All of these employees except the Radiation Therapists
