Locum Tenens Hospice/Palliative Care Jobs in Washington

Palliative Physician

Our client in the Greater Seattle is currently looking for locums Palliative Physician to join their facility.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides oversight on the medical management of hospice and palliative care patients.
  • Acts as a medical resource for the interdisciplinary team and assure physician representation and participation in interdisciplinary team meeting
  • Assists in the development and review of the Plan of Care and clinical protocols
  • Reviews the patient’s medical condition to confirm that the patient is medically eligible for hospice services. Consults with the patients’ Attending Physician regarding pain and symptom management. Acts as the Attending Physician for patients who do not have an Attending Physician. Acts to provide medical care if the Attending Physician cannot be reached in an emergent situation.
  • Certifies terminal Illness and re-certifies terminal Illness by employing prognostication skill to determine hospice eligibility. Completes necessary documentation in a timely fashion. Performs Face to Face visits and Pre-Admission visits as necessary to recertify eligibility for hospice care according to Medicare guidelines.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance for ministry. Participates in development of policies and procedures to ensure compliance in accordance Medicare Conditions of Participation and other regulatory agencies requirements.
  • Participates as a member of management & leadership teams as assigned

Requirements:

  • Must be board certified. Will consider Family Medicine and Geriatric Physicians.
  • DEA and ACLS. Hospital privileges not needed.

Practice Details:

  • Schedule is Monday - Friday, 8a – 4:30p
  • Rotating on-call schedule every 4-6 weeks (4:30 pm through 8:00 am Mon -Fri.  4:30 pm Fri through 8:00 am Mon)
  • Work also includes F2F and occasional pain/symptom management visits in patient homes (Mason, Lewis and Thurston Counties)
  • 100% Adult, 1.0 % peds, 85% Geriatric
  • Most patients retain their primary care provider. Outside specialists occasionally consult with patients (e.g. radiologists, cardiologists)
  • Total hospice staff: approximately 90.  RN, LPN, MSW, Hospice
  • EMR: McKesson Homecare Horizon
