The Physiatrist is responsible for providing professional clinical services to Veterans in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation outpatient clinics. This position is under the direct administrative supervision of the ACOS of Extended Care & Rehab Service Line. The incumbent will participate as assigned in patient care, teaching, and administrative activities of the Service. The Physiatrist would: • Treat patients with painful and function-limiting musculoskeletal disorders of the spine, peripheral joints, and soft tissues such as sprains/strains, disc herniation's, rheumatologic conditions, degenerative, developmental, acquired, and traumatic neuromuscular conditions of the upper and lower limbs, spinal cord, and brain. • Prescribe therapeutic exercise and other rehabilitation modalities. • Perform and interpret electro diagnostic studies to include electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction studies, and evoked potentials. • Interpret other diagnostic studies that evaluate a patient's musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems. • Physiatrist should be competent to perform injection techniques. • Serve as Chair of the major medical committee and amputee clinic. Preference is applicants with two years post-doctoral experience in a service based-setting.
