Forensic Pathologist Opportunity – Eastern NC

A leading academic medical center in Greenville, North Carolina, is seeking a board-eligible or board-certified forensic/autopsy pathologist. Candidates must be certified in anatomic or anatomic & clinical pathology and are expected to obtain forensic pathology certification within one year if not already credentialed.

New graduates and visa candidates are welcome.

Position Highlights:

  • Employed position with academic appointment available
  • Privileges at a 974-bed Level I trauma center, the second largest hospital in North Carolina
  • Join an established team with two forensic pathologists and a pathologist assistant
  • Eastern Regional Autopsy Center performs ~600 medical examiner autopsies and ~500 external exams annually
  • Also provides 80–100 medical autopsies per year for a major teaching hospital

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct full autopsies and external exams
  • Review investigative reports and determine jurisdiction
  • Analyze histology and toxicology findings
  • Certify cause and manner of death
  • Prepare timely reports and provide expert witness testimony
  • Participate in medical student, resident, and fellow education
  • Collaborate with legal and law enforcement personnel
