Permanent Hospitalist: Internal Medicine Job in Austin, Texas

HOSPITALIST

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Remote (Work from home), Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:30pm.

  • Treat and diagnose patients with chronic as well as Kidney and Renal diseases.

  • Serve as a collaborator, partner/mentor in the training of NPs and other providers to provide high quality care.

  • Apply evidence-based criteria in determining the appropriateness and necessity of care; in particular, in determining whether dialytic or non-dialytic care is the correct evidence-based pathway.

  • Reduce unnecessary or preventable episodes of care, including hospital readmissions.

  • Identify and make practical, pointed interventions to improve member care.

  • Review Annual Wellness Visit assessments to ensure proper coding and provision of medical diagnoses across multiple comorbid conditions.

  • Conduct meaningful end-of-life and treatment options discussions with patient.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be a board certified Internal Medicine or Hospitalist Physician.

  • MDs must be licensed in the state. 

  • MDs will be responsible for quality outcomes for health plan members in the state.

  • Must have experience in evidence-based clinical care.

  • Must have experience in CKD, ESRD, and chronic care.

  • Must have experience with Medicaid and Medicare, quality improvement, risk adjustment, and medical utilization management.

  • Must have strong management skills.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
