Permanent Family Practice: Outpatient Only Job in Everett, Washington
JOB SUMMARY: Examines and treats adult patients, regardless of age or sex. Ensures proper care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery for straightforward and complex patients. Prescribes and administers medications, performs vaccinations, performs minor procedures and provides advice regarding personal health and hygiene. Requests necessary tests and follow-up visits and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Pay for this position is 129.00 an hour. RISK MANAGEMENT: 0-1 medical professional liability claims with indemnity settlements in professional history. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: List each job duty and responsibility that is essential to performing the job successfully, efficiently and safely. • Adult Internal Medicine specialist or Family Practitioner whose primary role is to fill, on an as-needed basis, the empty seat of TEC internists or family physicians who are on vacation or leave of absence. • Scheduled primary care visits as needed. • Scheduled hours may be between the hours of 7:30 AM and 7:30 PM based on departmental needs and annual productivity standards. • Ability to see 20-30 patients per clinical day. • Maintenance of hospital privileges is not required. Hospital care is provided primarily by the hospitalist service of Providence Everett Medical Center. • No call. • Participates in a program of comprehensive health for the patient, to include preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health. • Prepares and reviews medical histories and obtains data through interviews. • Examines patients, formulates differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing. Interprets examination findings and test results, and implements treatment plans. • Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists. • Participates in minor surgical procedures according to training, volume standards, and demonstrated ability. • Provides supportive and definitive care to patients with serious medical and surgical conditions with appropriate consultation, based on documented and demonstrated proficiency. • Formulates plans and procedures for operating outpatient and inpatient services directed toward health maintenance and ongoing health care of adults by a physician who serves as their personal physician. • Promotes positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees, physicians and patients. • Ensures confidentiality of patient information. • Has regular and predictable attendance. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within Family Practice/ Internal Medicine. Able to work independently, but also within a group, contributing to the efforts of the entire team. Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care. Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications. Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills. Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Education: A degree in medicine from an accredited school. Experience: Graduation from an accredited Internal Medicine residency program or equivalent. At least 5 years practice experience in an ambulatory setting. Certificate/License: Board certified or board eligible and medical license to practice in Washington State. Recertification at intervals recommended. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: To extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; pick, pinch, type or otherwise work primarily with accomplish tasks; raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position; apply pressure to an object with fingertips; sustain substantial movement of wrists; hands and/or fingertips. Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, punch, pull, or otherwise move objects. Primary functions involve sitting, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching; walking, and standing for sustained periods of time. Work with frequent interruptions and to respond appropriately to unexpected situations. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office/patient environment. Work may be demanding and chaotic at times. Exposed to patient population that will present a variety of contagious diseases, physical injuries and emotional states of mind. CONTACT RELATIONSHIPS: Staff members, other physicians and the general public.
