POSITION OVERVIEW (duties include but are not limited to) • Perform a variety of physical examinations to assess the physical capabilities of a candidate in relation to job demands and/or discover physical infirmities present or incipient. • Provide prompt referral to other facilities in the event that the clinic facilities are inadequate, unavailable or the patient elects outside care. • Provide limited medical services to patient for non-occupational conditions which entail the provision of minor treatment to enable the patient to safely and comfortably complete that work shift. • Render all available emergency procedures and treatment to stabilize a patient in cases of serious illness or injury. • Facilitate, as required, referral to the patient's private physician for definitive medical care of chronic or serious emergency conditions. • Arrange immediate transfer to the patient's private physician or hospital as indicated. • Interpret results of diagnostic studies and determine appropriate treatment regimens according to established standards, guidelines and protocols. • Utilize specialized medical equipment. • Conduct patient education with an emphasis on health promotion and prevention of illness/injury. • Contact medical personnel to obtain and provide substantive confidential, medical information within limits of legal restraint and provide recommendations and advice to management regarding the medical conditions of specific employees. • Provide consultation to patient regarding the physical capabilities of the employee to perform job functions based on the work position, work site, and type of work performed including suitability for continued service. QUALIFICATIONS • Must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited graduate school of Medicine. • Possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience in an Occupational Medicine setting within the preceding three (3) years, OR have completed an Occupational Medicine residency training program within the preceding two (2) years. • Possess certification in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. • Must be in good standing, and under no restrictions, with the state licensure board in any state in which a license is held. • Must maintain current certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.
